Brother Troy G.

On Friday, May 4, 1990, I was at a youth
get-together at First Landmark Missionary Baptist
Church in Springfield, Oregon. Later that evening, we
were watching movies taken from what is known as "The
Endtimes Series". We saw the very first movie
entitled "A THIEF IN THE NIGHT". That portrays Jesus
coming back to earth, and taking those who know him as
their personal Saviour to heaven. Those who don't
know him as their personal Saviour are left behind.
It also portrays what those who are left behind would
be faced with. Well, I saw that movie for the first
time, and I was scared! I wasn't sure whether or not
I was saved.
At 12:40 A.M. on Saturday, May 5, the youth
director gave me a ride home. I told him I wasn't
sure whether or not I was saved. He said, "Troy,
salvation is very crucial, and you need to examine
where you stand with God." As soon as we pulled in my
driveway, I asked if he would turn his car off, and if
we could have a word of prayer. He said, "Sure." I
prayed first, he prayed second, and afterward he asked
if there was anything different about me. I said,
"I'm not sure, but I'm going inside, and will be in
constant prayer until I know for sure that I'm saved."
I went in, he started his car, and drove back to the
church building.
I went into my bedroom, and was in constant
prayer from 1:15 A.M, through 3:15 A.M. The majority
of my prayers were, "Lord, if I'm truly saved, please
reveal it to me. But if not, please save me now." I
went through the worst form of soul-searching ever
known to me in my life. Anyhow, I don't exactly know
what I said, but after I finished praying in
desperation, it was then that I knew for sure I was
saved! The greatest words ever spoken or written will
never be able to describe what it's like, or how
wonderful it is to be saved. To have the full
assurance of knowing I'm going to heaven if I were to
die right now is truly indescribable. And to share
with all who will hear how the Lord Jesus Christ saved
my soul and gave me eternal life in the wee hours of
that very morning is such a joy.
In conclusion, you can be saved the selfsame way
I was. It's so simple, even a mere understanding
child can be saved. All it takes for you to do is ask
Jesus to forgive your sins, come into your heart and
save you, and believe and trust in him with all your
heart that he will do it. No one can tell you what
words to say in your prayer to him. They must
genuinely come from your own heart and mouth. There is
no better time than right now wherever you are to be
saved. Where you spend eternity is very serious.
From only you, God's great love requires a personal
response. Please do it now, before it could be too
late for you.
